Children's privacy

Primus is built for youth sports, so most athlete records describe minors. We treat that seriously:

  • Under 13: children do not create accounts. A parent or legal guardian creates the profile, confirms their relationship, and consents to the data we hold. The child has no login and no direct messaging.
  • 13 to 17: athletes may hold an account. Their profile is private until a linked parent or guardian approves public visibility. Guardians receive the same notifications the athlete does.
  • Default private: a minor's profile, photo, and stats are never public without a guardian's recorded consent. Guardians can withdraw consent at any time and the profile becomes private immediately.
  • Minimum data: we do not collect precise location, school address, or contact details for minors beyond what a guardian provides for their own account.
  • Review and deletion: guardians can review everything held about their child, export it, or request deletion from their dashboard.

The specific method Primus uses to verify a parent's identity and consent is being finalized with counsel. Today we require a verified adult account and an explicit attestation, and we record the method used with every consent.

How we use data

  • To run the service: profiles, stats, verification, equipment history, notifications.
  • To keep it safe: rate limiting, abuse detection, audit logs.
  • To improve it: aggregate, de-identified usage analytics.

We do not sell personal information. We do not show advertising. We do not use athlete data to train models that predict anything about an individual without telling you first.

Who we share with

  • Coaches see the roster they manage, including private profiles of their own players, so they can record and verify games.
  • The public sees only profiles marked public, and only coach-approved statistics.
  • Service providers that host the database, send email, and monitor errors, under contracts that limit their use of the data.
  • Legal requests when required by law.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you request deletion we remove your account, profiles, games, and stats. Equipment history keeps the fact that a transfer happened but drops the link to your account. Backups age out within 30 days.

Your choices

  • Make a profile public or private, or ask your guardian to.
  • Turn off email for any notification category in Settings.
  • Export your data or request deletion from Settings.
  • Correct your information by editing your profile or contacting us.

State privacy rights

Residents of some US states have additional rights to access, correct, delete, and limit use of their personal information. Primus honors these requests for all users regardless of state. The exact notices required in each state will be confirmed by counsel before public launch.
